Gloucester is our home turf. Our base on Stevenage Drive is right on Gloucester's doorstep, so most jobs here are a short drive away. We fix springs, cables, off-track doors, openers, sensors and weather seals, and we do tune-ups and new Garaga doors.

Mokhtaar runs the business and does the work himself. When you call, you're talking to the person who will show up, look at your door and give you the price.

How Gloucester's homes affect your garage door

Gloucester is a big area with one of the widest age ranges of homes in Ottawa. Neighbourhoods like Beacon Hill, Pineview and Blossom Park were built decades ago. Blackburn Hamlet came a little later. Findlay Creek, Riverside South and the streets around Leitrim are much newer, and some are still being built.

On the older end, it's common to find extension springs that run alongside the horizontal tracks, wood or early steel doors, and openers installed before photo-eye safety sensors became standard. An extension spring without a safety cable running through it can whip when it breaks, so we often recommend converting to a torsion setup.

On the newer end, the doors are heavier and better insulated, but the springs, rollers and openers are often basic builder parts. They do their job for a while, then tend to fail at around the same age across a whole street.

Two very different jobs in one area

Because of that age gap, a Gloucester call can be almost anything. One visit might be a decades-old door in Beacon Hill that needs new rollers and a spring conversion. The next might be a five-year-old door in Findlay Creek whose opener has stopped responding.

We come prepared for both. And when a door is old enough that repairs no longer make sense, we'll say so and quote a new Garaga door instead of selling you parts you don't need.

Being this close also matters when a door is stuck open or shut. A short drive makes it easier to fit you in, and to come back if something needs another look.

Gloucester garage door questions

Usually, yes. Older homes are more likely to have extension springs, older openers and wood or early steel doors. Newer homes tend to have torsion springs and insulated doors, but with builder-grade parts that wear out on a similar schedule. We check what you have before recommending anything.

Often, yes. Torsion springs are mounted above the door and are more contained when they break. If you keep extension springs, they should have safety cables running through them. We'll show you both options and the price for each.

If the door itself is solid and the problem is a spring, cable or opener, repair is usually the better value. If panels are cracked, rotting or badly dented, or parts are no longer available, a new door can make more sense. New doors are quoted by estimate.
